Is Transferrin useful for Fruchtbarkeit?

Transferrin is an iron-transport protein in the blood. Its relevance to fertility is indirect via iron status: iron deficiency can impair ovulation and egg quality, while iron overload (hemochromatosis) can damage reproductive organs. However, transferrin alone is not an established fertility biomarker. Clinically, ferritin, hemoglobin, and total iron-binding capacity are more commonly used. The evidence for a direct benefit of transferrin testing for fertility optimization is weak, based on mechanistic reasoning rather than robust human trials. If you are trying to conceive, iron status should be assessed as part of a comprehensive medical workup. An isolated transferrin test without clinical context is not recommended. Caveat: self-interpretation may lead to unnecessary supplementation or anxiety. Evidence grade: mechanistic/unclear.
