What to watch with Eisen-Ferritin Selbsttest and Allergie?

The iron-ferritin self-test measures ferritin, the body's iron storage protein. When you have allergies, caution is needed: ferritin is an acute-phase reactant that can rise during inflammation – such as allergic reactions. A high ferritin level might falsely suggest adequate iron stores, while functional iron deficiency (due to chronic inflammation) could be present. Conversely, true iron deficiency can impair immune function and potentially worsen allergy symptoms. The self-test alone cannot diagnose; it should be combined with clinical assessments (complete blood count, CRP, allergy tests). Evidence for a direct link between ferritin self-tests and allergies is weak and mainly mechanistic. Watch for inflammatory interference and never interpret results without medical guidance.
