Myths vs facts: CRP Entzündung and Müdigkeit

Myth: A high CRP level alone proves that fatigue is caused by inflammation. Fact: CRP (C-reactive protein) is a non-specific marker of inflammation. Elevated levels can indicate acute infection, chronic inflammation, but also stress, sleep deprivation, or obesity. Fatigue has many causes – from iron deficiency and thyroid issues to psychological factors. A single CRP test without clinical context is not diagnostic. Studies show that mildly elevated CRP (e.g., 2–10 mg/L) is associated with chronic fatigue, but the evidence is moderate and not causal. MyBody-X tests provide raw data, not diagnoses. For persistent fatigue and elevated CRP, a doctor should perform further workup (complete blood count, inflammatory panel, hormones).
