HLA-DQ2 is a genetic marker strongly associated with celiac disease. Its link to blood sugar is indirect: untreated celiac disease damages the intestinal lining, causing malabsorption that can lead to blood sugar fluctuations (both hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia).
