Is Zöliakie Test useful for sleep?

The celiac test (typically tTG-IgA antibodies in blood) is used to diagnose celiac disease, an autoimmune gluten intolerance. Celiac disease can impair sleep quality through abdominal pain, nutrient deficiencies (iron, vitamin B12), or associated conditions like restless legs syndrome and sleep apnea. Therefore, the test can be useful if undiagnosed celiac disease is suspected as a cause of sleep disturbances. However, it is not a general sleep screening tool – most sleep issues have other origins. The evidence for the test's direct utility in sleep complaints is mechanistic (biologically plausible) and based on clinical practice, not randomized trials. A positive result requires gastroenterological follow-up with duodenal biopsy. Without typical celiac symptoms (diarrhea, bloating, fatigue), the test is usually not indicated for sleep problems alone.
