How are FOXO3 and menopause related?

The relationship between FOXO3 and menopause is not well established. FOXO3 is a gene linked to longevity and cellular stress resistance. Some GWAS and observational studies suggest that certain FOXO3 variants may be associated with age at natural menopause, possibly through effects on ovarian aging. However, effect sizes are small, and the evidence is not strong enough for clinical use. MyBody-X DNA tests that include FOXO3 cannot predict menopause timing or guide treatment. Menopause is diagnosed clinically based on symptoms and hormone levels (FSH, estradiol). Genetic testing for FOXO3 is not a substitute for medical evaluation. The evidence level is unclear—more research is needed to confirm any meaningful link.
