Is TCF7L2 useful for Fruchtbarkeit?

TCF7L2 is a gene strongly associated with type 2 diabetes risk. There is no robust scientific evidence that TCF7L2 variants directly affect fertility. Indirect links via glucose metabolism or metabolic syndrome are plausible but not clinically meaningful for fertility. Consumer DNA tests that mention TCF7L2 in a fertility context overstate the evidence. The data are mechanistic and speculative. For fertility concerns, other factors such as hormone levels, cycle analysis, or sperm quality are far more relevant. TCF7L2 should not be used as a fertility biomarker.
