Evidence check: Zöliakie Test in the context of fertility

A MyBody-X DNA test indicating 'high risk' for celiac disease via the HLA-DQA1 gene is not a diagnosis. Many carriers never develop celiac. In the context of fertility, untreated celiac disease (confirmed by serology and biopsy) is known to impair fertility through nutrient malabsorption (iron, folate, vitamin D) and chronic inflammation. However, the genetic risk test alone is insufficient to confirm clinically relevant celiac. A gluten-free diet should only be started after medical evaluation (tTG-IgA, endoscopy). Evidence for the celiac-fertility link comes from observational studies (human-moderate), while the genetic test is based on GWAS. Caveat: Do not change diet based solely on the DNA test.
