IgG Unverträglichkeitstest: what does this mean exactly?

An IgG food intolerance test measures IgG antibodies against specific foods. These tests are often marketed to identify food intolerances, but their scientific validity is highly questionable. IgG antibodies indicate immune exposure, not necessarily intolerance or allergy. Major medical societies, including the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI), advise against using IgG tests for diagnosing food intolerances because they can lead to unnecessary dietary restrictions and misdiagnosis. A positive IgG result does not reliably indicate that a food should be avoided. Evidence-based diagnosis of food intolerances relies on controlled elimination diets and provocation tests, not IgG panels. Therefore, the clinical utility of these tests is very limited.
