VKORC1 encodes vitamin K epoxide reductase, a key enzyme in vitamin K metabolism and blood coagulation. It is best known for its role in warfarin sensitivity. The link between VKORC1 and stress is poorly established. Stress can influence coagulation via the HPA axis, but direct genetic effects of VKORC1 on stress response are not well studied. Some research suggests possible interactions with oxidative stress because vitamin K acts as an antioxidant, but evidence is weak. If you have a DNA test showing VKORC1 variants, do not rely on it for stress-related advice. The primary clinical use is for anticoagulant dosing. Caveat: No validated stress markers from VKORC1 testing. Consult a physician for stress management.
