How are tTG IgA and longevity related?

tTG IgA (tissue transglutaminase antibodies) is a biomarker primarily used to screen for celiac disease, an autoimmune condition triggered by gluten. Untreated celiac disease can lead to chronic inflammation, malabsorption of nutrients, and increased risk of complications such as osteoporosis and lymphoma, which may reduce lifespan. However, there is no direct evidence linking tTG IgA levels to longevity in the general population. The association is indirect: celiac disease, if undiagnosed and untreated, can impair healthspan and increase mortality risk. In individuals without celiac disease, tTG IgA has no known role in longevity. Therefore, using tTG IgA as a standalone marker for longevity prediction is not supported by current evidence. Any positive result requires medical follow-up for proper diagnosis and management.
