Is VKORC1 useful for Langlebigkeit?

The usefulness of VKORC1 for longevity is poorly supported by evidence. VKORC1 encodes vitamin K epoxide reductase, a key enzyme in the vitamin K cycle. Vitamin K is important for blood clotting and bone health, and polymorphisms in VKORC1 affect vitamin K availability and warfarin dosing. Some studies suggest links between VKORC1 variants and cardiovascular disease or bone density, but direct evidence for lifespan extension is lacking. Longevity is a complex trait influenced by many genes and environmental factors. A genetic test for VKORC1 alone is insufficient for longevity advice and should not be considered predictive. Evidence is based on GWAS and mechanistic studies, not on randomized controlled trials for lifespan extension.
