Evidence check: CYP2C19 in the context of longevity

CYP2C19 is a drug-metabolizing enzyme; its variants (*2, *3, *17) affect the metabolism of many medications. In the context of longevity, there is no robust evidence that CYP2C19 variants directly influence lifespan or healthy aging. Some GWAS studies associate CYP2C19 with cardiovascular outcomes (e.g., under clopidogrel), but this is not a longevity marker. Evidence is moderate for pharmacogenetics but weak for longevity. MyBody-X Longevity DNA tests include CYP2C19, but their predictive value is based on marketing, not clinical validation for life extension. Caveat: test results should never be used without medical supervision for supplement or medication decisions.
