Can CYP2D6 help with fertility?

CYP2D6 is a key drug-metabolizing enzyme that processes estrogen metabolites and selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), both of which can influence fertility. However, direct evidence linking CYP2D6 gene variants to fertility outcomes is weak. Some studies suggest a role in tamoxifen metabolism (used off-label for ovulation induction), but findings are inconsistent and insufficient for clinical guidance. Fertility is multifactorial, dominated by hormonal status, age, and lifestyle. A standalone CYP2D6 DNA test cannot reliably predict fertility. Any interpretation should be part of a comprehensive medical evaluation.
