Risks and limits of Menopause Basis

The MyBody-X Menopause Basis test analyzes genetic variants linked to hormone metabolism and menopausal symptoms. However, the scientific basis is limited: most associations come from GWAS with small effect sizes, and clinical relevance is often unclear. The test cannot diagnose menopause or predict its onset. Only selected SNPs are examined, and their influence is overshadowed by environmental and lifestyle factors. Without accompanying blood tests (e.g., hormone levels), the interpretative value is low. MyBody-X itself states that results are not diagnostic. Users should discuss findings with a doctor, especially if experiencing symptoms like hot flashes or sleep disturbances. Evidence is mostly mechanistic and marketing-driven; independent clinical trials are lacking.
