How are AMH and skin aging related?

The relationship between AMH (anti-Müllerian hormone) and skin aging is discussed in research but remains inconclusive. AMH is primarily a marker of ovarian reserve and declines with female age. Since skin aging is also influenced by estrogen levels—which are linked to ovarian function—a plausible physiological connection exists. Some studies show a moderate correlation between low AMH and certain skin aging features like wrinkling or loss of elasticity, but effect sizes are small and evidence is heterogeneous. Importantly, AMH alone is not a validated biomarker for skin aging. Lifestyle factors (UV exposure, diet, smoking) and genetics have a much stronger impact. Using an AMH test to assess skin aging is not indicated. Evidence is mostly from observational studies; randomized controlled trials are lacking. Clinically, AMH should only be interpreted in the context of fertility assessment.
