What role does APOA2 play in Allergie?

APOA2 (Apolipoprotein A-II) is a gene encoding a protein involved in HDL cholesterol metabolism and inflammatory modulation. Some studies suggest associations between APOA2 polymorphisms and allergic conditions such as asthma or atopic dermatitis, possibly through effects on inflammatory pathways. However, the evidence is moderate, primarily from GWAS and observational studies, without a clearly established causal mechanism. APOA2 testing in consumer DNA kits has no validated clinical utility for allergy diagnosis. Individual allergy risk assessment should rely on established clinical methods (IgE testing, history).
