Is CRP Entzündung useful for longevity?

CRP (C-reactive protein) is a well-established marker of systemic inflammation. Chronically mildly elevated CRP levels (0.3–1.0 mg/L) are associated with increased risk of cardiovascular disease, metabolic syndrome, and accelerated aging. However, CRP is not a direct longevity marker – it reflects only one aspect of inflammation and can be confounded by acute infections, injuries, or lifestyle factors (smoking, obesity). For longevity assessment, a single CRP value has limited utility; it is more informative when combined with other inflammatory markers (IL-6, TNF-α) and functional tests (e.g., hs-CRP, fibrinogen). Moreover, there is no genetic variant for CRP that directly predicts lifespan. The evidence comes from epidemiological studies, not from randomized longevity interventions. A normal CRP level does not rule out inflammation-driven aging processes. For consumers: a home CRP test can provide a rough indication but does not replace medical evaluation. Caution against overinterpretation – a single value says little about individual longevity.
