Is SHBG useful for Schlaf?

SHBG (sex hormone-binding globulin) is a carrier protein for testosterone and estradiol. Some observational studies link low SHBG to sleep disturbances, especially in men with hypogonadism or women with PCOS. However, SHBG is not an established biomarker for sleep quality. The evidence is mostly associative, not causal. MyBody-X does not offer a specific SHBG test for sleep; SHBG is typically measured as part of hormone panels. For sleep assessment, validated questionnaires, actigraphy, or polysomnography are far more informative. An isolated SHBG value without clinical context (age, sex, BMI, hormone status) is insufficient for sleep evaluation. The evidence level is 'human-moderate' because no randomized controlled trials demonstrate a benefit of SHBG measurement for sleep optimization. Caveat: None of the context sources directly address SHBG and sleep.
