What role does HLA-DQ2 play in Müdigkeit?

HLA-DQ2 is a genetic marker strongly associated with celiac disease. Celiac disease can cause fatigue through chronic inflammation and nutrient malabsorption. However, HLA-DQ2 itself does not cause fatigue – it only increases the risk of developing gluten intolerance. Many individuals carrying HLA-DQ2 remain asymptomatic. Fatigue has many causes (iron deficiency, sleep disorders, stress, thyroid issues). Therefore, HLA-DQ2 testing is only useful as part of a celiac workup, not as a standalone fatigue test. Evidence is practice-based (clinical guidelines). MyBody-X presents such tests with appropriate caveats. Caveat: Without medical guidance, a positive result may lead to unnecessary worry or restrictive diets.
