How are COMT and Langlebigkeit related?

The relationship between COMT (catechol-O-methyltransferase) and longevity is not well-established. The common Val158Met (rs4680) polymorphism affects enzyme activity: Met carriers have lower activity, which may influence cognitive aging and stress resilience. Some observational studies suggest a modest association with lifespan, but results are inconsistent and effect sizes are small. COMT is not a clinically validated longevity marker. Direct-to-consumer tests that claim otherwise often overstate the evidence. Lifestyle factors (diet, exercise, sleep) have a far greater impact on longevity than single COMT variants.
