When is TSH Basis actually useful?

TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone) is a first-line screening marker for thyroid dysfunction. A 'TSH Basis' test is useful when you have symptoms like fatigue, weight changes, cold intolerance, or palpitations, or if you are monitoring thyroid hormone replacement therapy. However, as a single marker, TSH alone cannot diagnose thyroid disease; it must be interpreted alongside free T3, free T4, and clinical context. MyBody-X tests are lifestyle products, not medical devices. Under German GenDG, they are not diagnostic. Therefore, TSH Basis is most useful as an initial awareness tool, but any abnormal result should be confirmed and evaluated by a physician. Evidence: practice (well-established clinical use). Caveat: TSH can be influenced by non-thyroidal illness, medications, and circadian rhythm; a single measurement may be misleading.
