Can Cortisol help with Allergie?

Cortisol is a natural anti-inflammatory hormone. In the form of corticosteroids (e.g., nasal sprays, creams), it is medically proven to relieve allergic symptoms – evidence is human-strong. However, taking cortisol as a supplement or self-medicating is not recommended, because chronically high levels can cause weight gain, immune suppression, and bone loss. A MyBody-X test can measure your cortisol level (blood or saliva), but it does not treat allergies. For allergies, a doctor should prescribe appropriate therapy (antihistamines, corticosteroids). The idea that cortisol can 'help' allergies in a general sense is misleading: only specific, controlled corticosteroid medications are effective and safe.
