The Menopause Check (Wechseljahre Hormon-Test) measures hormones such as FSH, LH, estradiol, and progesterone in blood or saliva. It can indicate whether your hormone levels are shifting in a pattern typical of perimenopause or menopause – for example, elevated FSH with low estradiol. What it cannot do: provide a definitive menopause diagnosis, because hormone levels fluctuate throughout the menstrual cycle and a single measurement can be misleading. It does not predict symptom severity, individual risk for osteoporosis or cardiovascular disease, nor can it rule out other causes of menstrual irregularities (e.g., thyroid disorders, prolactinoma).
