CRP Entzündung: can a DNA test help?

A DNA test can provide information on genetic variants associated with baseline C-reactive protein (CRP) levels. GWAS have identified several SNPs (e.g., in the CRP gene) but these explain only a small fraction of the variance. CRP is an acute-phase protein heavily influenced by environmental factors such as infections, inflammation, smoking, obesity, and stress. Therefore, a genetic test alone cannot diagnose inflammation or predict current CRP levels. Clinical practice measures CRP directly via blood tests (e.g., hs-CRP). A DNA test might be part of a broader risk assessment but does not replace medical evaluation. MyBody-X does not appear to offer a specific CRP genetic test based on available context.
