DNA metabolism tests (e.g., for PPARG, FTO) analyze genetic variants with weak effects on energy metabolism. They have no direct link to allergies, which are immune-mediated (IgE). However, some companies misleadingly market DNA-based 'food sensitivity' tests – these are not validated. Allergies require clinical diagnostics (skin prick test, IgE blood test). A DNA test cannot confirm an allergy or true intolerance. Evidence for metabolism SNPs is mostly from GWAS with very small effect sizes; lifestyle dominates. Caution: a DNA metabolism test does not replace medical allergy evaluation.
