Can CYP1A2 help with blood sugar?

Whether CYP1A2 can help with blood sugar is not scientifically well-established. CYP1A2 is primarily known for metabolizing caffeine and certain drugs. Some studies suggest a link between CYP1A2 variants and type 2 diabetes risk, especially in interaction with caffeine intake. However, the effects are small and the evidence is mostly observational or mechanistic. Direct causal evidence from randomized controlled trials is lacking. A DNA test for CYP1A2 cannot reliably inform blood sugar management. Blood sugar issues should be assessed using established methods like fasting glucose, HbA1c, and medical consultation.
