MyBody-X angle on APOE Test

The MyBody-X APOE test analyzes the ε2, ε3, and ε4 variants, which are linked to lipid metabolism and Alzheimer's disease risk. The ε4 allele is the strongest known genetic risk factor for late-onset Alzheimer's (odds ratio ~3 for one ε4 copy, ~12 for two). However, this is a risk marker, not a diagnosis. Many ε4 carriers never develop the disease, and lifestyle factors play a major role. The test may also provide insights into dietary fat response, but effect sizes are modest.
