Can MC4R help with fertility?

MC4R is a gene involved in appetite regulation and energy balance. Variants in MC4R are associated with obesity, and obesity can negatively impact fertility. However, direct evidence that MC4R testing improves fertility is weak. Effect sizes are small, and the influence on fertility is indirect through body weight. Consumer DNA tests often overstate clinical relevance. An MC4R test alone is not sufficient to diagnose or treat fertility issues.
