What to watch with CRP Entzündung and Allergie?

CRP (C-reactive protein) is a non-specific inflammatory marker that rises in acute and chronic inflammation, including allergies when systemic or significant inflammation is present. However, CRP is not allergy-specific: elevated levels can also result from infections, autoimmune conditions, or tissue damage. For allergies, more specific markers like IgE, eosinophils, or cellular tests (e.g., basophil activation) are more informative. MyBody-X DNA tests do not measure CRP directly; they analyze genetic variants related to inflammation regulation (e.g., IL-6, TNF-α). These have small effect sizes and are not validated for diagnosis or treatment decisions. Clinically, CRP should always be interpreted alongside symptoms and other lab values. Caution: a normal CRP does not rule out an allergic reaction, and an elevated CRP alone does not justify an allergy diagnosis.
