The KombiCheck | Intolerance & Allergy Test measures specific IgE antibodies to foods, indicating allergic sensitization. However, a positive IgE result does not automatically confirm clinical allergy – many individuals have detectable IgE without symptoms (asymptomatic sensitization). False positives are common due to cross-reactivity (e.g., pollen-related food allergies). The test cannot diagnose true food intolerances such as lactose intolerance, fructose malabsorption, or histamine intolerance, as these involve enzyme deficiencies or other non-IgE mechanisms. IgG-based tests, often included in combination panels, lack robust scientific evidence for diagnosing intolerances. Clinical relevance must be assessed by an allergist. The test is not a substitute for medical diagnostics like oral food challenges or controlled elimination diets. Caution: overinterpretation may lead to unnecessary dietary restrictions or anxiety.
