What role does APOA2 play in fertility?

APOA2 encodes apolipoprotein A-II, a component of HDL. Its direct role in fertility is poorly established. Some studies suggest associations with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) or altered lipid profiles in infertility, but effect sizes are small and not causal. Evidence is mostly mechanistic or observational; there are no clinically validated biomarkers or actionable recommendations based on APOA2 variants. A DNA test alone cannot predict or explain fertility issues. Lifestyle, hormonal status, and other genetic factors play a much larger role. Beware of overblown marketing claims: APOA2 is not an established fertility marker.
