Mikrobiom Test: can a DNA test help?

A DNA test can provide clues about genetic factors that may influence your microbiome composition – such as immune system genes or digestive traits (e.g., lactase persistence, mucin production). However, it cannot replace a direct microbiome analysis (stool test). Research on gene-microbiome interactions is still emerging, and commercial tests are not validated for clinical diagnosis or treatment. Evidence is moderate (association studies, no causal biomarkers). Caveat: A DNA test alone cannot tell you about your current microbiome composition or function. Combined genetic + microbiome approaches are promising but not yet standard.
