What to watch with IgE and stress?

IgE is primarily linked to allergies, not directly to stress. However, chronic stress can influence immune regulation via the HPA axis and the glucocorticoid receptor gene NR3C1 – theoretically affecting IgE production. Evidence is mixed: some observational studies report elevated IgE under chronic stress, others do not. A high IgE level alone is not a reliable stress marker. MyBody-X tests are consumer-grade and not diagnostic. For stress assessment, it is more useful to monitor cortisol, sleep quality, and inflammatory markers like hs-CRP. IgE testing is appropriate when allergies are suspected, but not for stress evaluation. Evidence: mechanistic/unclear.
