Evidence check: FOXO3 in the context of Fruchtbarkeit

FOXO3 is a transcription factor involved in cellular stress resistance, DNA repair, and longevity. In the context of fertility, FOXO3 has been linked to ovarian reserve and reproductive aging. Some GWAS studies show associations between FOXO3 variants (e.g., rs2802292) and age at menopause as well as oocyte quality. However, effect sizes are small, and the clinical predictive power for individual fertility is weak. The evidence comes mainly from population genetic and mechanistic studies, not from randomized clinical trials. A genetic test for FOXO3 alone is not suitable for assessing fertility or guiding treatment. Lifestyle factors such as diet, stress management, and smoking cessation have a much greater impact.
