How are LDL and skin aging related?

The relationship between LDL cholesterol and skin aging is not clearly established in science. LDL is a blood lipid primarily linked to cardiovascular disease. However, oxidized LDL can promote inflammatory processes and oxidative stress, which may accelerate skin aging – for example through collagen breakdown and reduced elasticity. Some studies suggest a link between elevated LDL levels and increased wrinkle formation, but the evidence is mostly mechanistic and insufficient for causal claims.
