How are LDL and skin aging related?

The relationship between LDL cholesterol and skin aging is not clearly established in science. LDL is a blood lipid primarily linked to cardiovascular disease. However, oxidized LDL can promote inflammatory processes and oxidative stress, which may accelerate skin aging – for example through collagen breakdown and reduced elasticity. Some studies suggest a link between elevated LDL levels and increased wrinkle formation, but the evidence is mostly mechanistic and insufficient for causal claims. Skin aging is also influenced by UV radiation, glycation, hormones, and genetics. MyBody-X does not offer specific tests for LDL and skin aging. Maintaining a healthy LDL level is still important for overall health. For targeted skin aging analysis, specialized dermatological assessments are recommended.
