CRP Entzündung: can a microbiome test help?

A microbiome test can provide insights into gut bacteria composition, but it is not a validated tool to directly lower CRP (C-reactive protein) levels or diagnose the cause of inflammation. CRP is a systemic inflammatory marker influenced by many factors—infections, autoimmune conditions, lifestyle, diet. While research links the gut microbiome to chronic inflammation (e.g., via short-chain fatty acids or lipopolysaccharides), the evidence is not yet strong enough to derive individual clinical recommendations from a microbiome test. Clinically relevant inflammation should always be evaluated by a physician. A microbiome test may serve as supplementary information but does not replace blood work or medical diagnosis. The evidence base is mixed: mechanistic and animal studies exist, but few randomized controlled trials with CRP as endpoint. Beware of marketing claims suggesting a direct causal link.
