The ACTN3 gene variant (R577X) is primarily associated with muscle power and sprint performance, not directly with blood sugar. Some studies suggest a possible link to insulin resistance or metabolic health, but the effects are very small and not clinically meaningful. Evidence is mostly mechanistic or from GWAS, not from randomized trials. For blood sugar management, lifestyle factors like diet and exercise are far more important.
