Evidence check: CRP Entzündung in the context of Stress
T
TIKKI knowledge answer
CRP (C-reactive protein) is a well-established biomarker for systemic inflammation. Chronic stress can elevate CRP via activation of the HPA axis and sympathetic nervous system, increasing hepatic CRP production. Numerous epidemiological studies show a moderate association between psychosocial stress and elevated CRP. However, CRP is non-specific: elevations also occur with infections, obesity, smoking, or autoimmune conditions. MyBody-X currently does not offer a specific CRP blood test; the company focuses on DNA tests (e.g., metabolism) and select lab parameters like testosterone. A CRP test would be a useful complementary blood marker, but interpretation requires clinical context. A single elevated CRP value alone does not prove stress-driven inflammation. Reliable assessment needs repeated measurements and consideration of lifestyle factors. The evidence for the stress–CRP link is human-moderate, but direct application to consumer tests remains limited.
