When should tTG IgA be retested?

The tTG IgA test is used for celiac disease diagnosis and monitoring. Retesting is recommended if initial test was negative but clinical suspicion remains high, or if HLA-DQ genotyping suggests genetic risk. After starting a gluten-free diet, repeat testing after 6–12 months to confirm antibody decline. In children with equivocal initial results, retesting after one year may be considered. Evidence is based on clinical practice guidelines (e.g., ESPGHAN, ACG); no high-quality trials define exact intervals. Important: the test is only valid while on a gluten-containing diet. If already gluten-free, consider HLA typing or gluten challenge. MyBody-X does not offer tTG IgA testing; consult a physician for clinical evaluation.
