What role does Zöliakie Test play in longevity?

A celiac disease test (antibody or genetic) has no direct, evidence-based role in longevity for the general population. However, untreated celiac disease can cause chronic inflammation and malabsorption, leading to complications such as osteoporosis, lymphoma, and increased mortality – early diagnosis and a gluten-free diet can reduce these risks. The evidence comes from observational studies, not from randomized long-term trials on life extension. A genetic test for HLA-DQ2/DQ8 has high negative predictive value (largely rules out celiac disease) but low positive predictive value, as many carriers never develop the condition. The USPSTF does not recommend general screening. For longevity, established factors like diet, exercise, and avoiding risk factors are far more relevant. Testing is only useful when clinical suspicion exists or in high-risk groups (e.g., type 1 diabetes). A direct life-span extension from the test alone is not supported.
