How are Omega-3 Index and Haut related?

The Omega-3 Index measures the percentage of EPA and DHA in red blood cell membranes and is primarily validated as a cardiovascular risk marker. Its relation to skin health is based on mechanistic plausibility: omega-3 fatty acids have anti-inflammatory properties, can modulate sebum production, and support skin barrier integrity. Some observational and interventional studies suggest benefits for acne, psoriasis, and atopic dermatitis. However, the Omega-3 Index as a standalone test has not been clinically validated for predicting or managing skin conditions. MyBody-X offers this blood test, but evidence for a direct skin link is weak (mechanistic/unclear). The index may reflect systemic inflammation, which can influence skin, but it is not a substitute for dermatological assessment. Caveat: skin health is multifactorial; omega-3 status is just one piece.
