The IgG food sensitivity test is often marketed for diagnosing food intolerances or allergies, but it lacks scientific validity for this purpose. IgG antibodies against foods are a normal immune response and do not indicate intolerance or allergy. Major allergy organizations (e.g., EAACI, AAAAI) advise against using IgG tests because they cannot reliably distinguish between tolerance and intolerance. Evidence is weak and mostly based on marketing claims rather than robust clinical studies. Relying on such tests may lead to unnecessary dietary restrictions and anxiety. For genuine allergies (IgE-mediated) or intolerances (e.g., lactose), validated diagnostic methods are essential. An IgG test should not replace a medical evaluation.
