Is HLA-DQ2 useful for Allergie?

HLA-DQ2 is a gene variant cluster strongly linked to celiac disease (an autoimmune reaction to gluten), not to classical allergies such as pollen or food allergies. Evidence for a role in allergies is weak and inconsistent. A positive HLA-DQ2 result does not indicate that you have or will develop allergies. This test is not an allergy test; it is a risk marker for celiac disease. Caveat: direct-to-consumer tests often overstate clinical relevance.
