TCF7L2 is a transcription factor in the Wnt signaling pathway, best known as a strong risk gene for type 2 diabetes. A direct, causal role in menopause timing is not established. Some GWAS have suggested possible associations, likely mediated through metabolic and hormonal pathways (e.g., insulin resistance, estrogen metabolism).
