Evidence for a direct role of FADS1 variants in menopause is weak. FADS1 is a key gene in omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acid conversion. GWAS studies show associations with fatty acid levels, but not with menopausal symptoms or timing. Clinical relevance for diet during menopause remains unclear.
