What role does LCT play in skin aging?

The role of the LCT gene (lactase) in skin aging is not well established. LCT encodes lactase, the enzyme that breaks down lactose in dairy. Some research suggests a possible link between lactase persistence (and thus dairy intake) and skin aging – for example via IGF-1 levels or glycation processes.
