What to watch with tTG IgA and Blutzucker?

tTG IgA is the primary serological marker for celiac disease. A positive result requires duodenal biopsy for confirmation. Blood glucose (fasting or HbA1c) is used for diabetes screening and monitoring. When considering both: untreated celiac disease can cause blood sugar fluctuations due to malabsorption, especially in patients with existing diabetes (type 1 is associated, type 2 possible). A gluten-free diet may also affect HbA1c levels. Caveat: tTG IgA is not a diabetes marker. Evidence for a direct interaction is moderate – both tests are independent but clinically relevant when combined. No DNA tests are needed; standard serological and metabolic lab work is sufficient.
