What to watch with Transferrin and allergy?

Transferrin is an iron-transport protein and not a direct marker for allergies. However, iron status can influence immune function: iron deficiency may impair immune responses and potentially exacerbate allergic tendencies, while iron overload (e.g., in hemochromatosis) can promote inflammation. Evidence for a direct link between transferrin levels and allergy is weak and mostly mechanistic. Interpreting transferrin from home tests in isolation is not recommended. For allergy concerns, specific IgE testing and clinical evaluation are far more relevant than transferrin measurement.
