Is hsCRP useful for Allergie?

hsCRP (high-sensitivity C-reactive protein) is a general inflammation marker primarily used in clinical practice for cardiovascular risk assessment. For allergies, hsCRP has no established diagnostic or therapeutic role. Allergic reactions can trigger mild systemic inflammation, but hsCRP is not specific enough to differentiate allergic from infectious or other inflammatory causes. In research, hsCRP is occasionally measured as a secondary parameter in studies of severe allergic conditions like asthma or atopic dermatitis, but without clear clinical utility for individual allergy diagnosis. Consumer lab tests that market hsCRP as an 'allergy marker' overstate the evidence. The gold standard for allergy workup remains specific IgE testing, skin prick tests, and clinical history. An elevated hsCRP should always be interpreted in a broader context and can indicate many other conditions. Caution: a normal hsCRP does not rule out allergy, and an elevated level does not prove allergy. The evidence for hsCRP's usefulness in allergy is weak and not supported by randomized controlled trials.
